The Millennium, part 1

Shalom, everyone!

Now that we've had some time to expand on the New Earth, its New Atmosphere, and the New Earth, let's back up some to the previous great event, the FIRST 1,000 years of Yeshua`s reign. First, let's look at the passage that explains the timing well:

1 Cor 15:12-20
20 But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept.
21 For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead.
22 For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.
23 But every man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ's at his coming.
24 Then cometh the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when he shall have put down all rule and all authority and power.
25 For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet.
26 The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death.
27 For he hath put all things under his feet. But when he saith, all things are put under him, it is manifest that he is excepted, which did put all things under him.
28 And when all things shall be subdued unto him, then shall the Son also himself be subject unto him that put all things under him, that God may be all in all.
KJV

To put this in perspective, we have just witnessed the point in human history when God will be "all in all," when the Son Himself shall "be subject unto Him (God the Father) who put all things under Him (the Son, Yeshua`)."
Thus, these verses recount the time prior to that time as a time when "He (the Son) must reign, till He has put all enemies under His feet." This time of "forced compliance" will be done by a "benevolent dictator," the Messiah reigning as King of kings and dominating as Lord of lords. This term "king of kings" means an "emperor," and it is the title that was first seen applied to N'vukhadretsar or N'vukhadnetsar (Nebuchadnezzar) of Bavel (Babylon) (Ezek. 26:7; Dan. 2:37) and then later to Artach'shashta (Artaxerxes) of Persia (Ezra 7:12).

That will be the character of Yeshua`s reign as well. Literally, He will be an Over-King and an Over-Lord. While many believe that the Millennium will be a time of peace, it will only be such a time for the inhabitants of Isra'el and its tributary nations. For other Gentile nations, it will be a time of FORCED peace! He will rule them with a "rod of iron," an iron sceptre! And, it won't necessarily be a happy time for them! I believe that Psalm 2 is about this time when the Messiah reigns, Messianic psalm:

Ps 2:1-12
1 Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing?
2 The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the Lord, and against his anointed, saying,
3 Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us.
4 He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision.
5 Then shall he speak unto them in his wrath, and vex them in his sore displeasure.
6 Yet have I set my king upon my holy hill of Zion.
7 I will declare the decree: the Lord hath said unto me, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee.
8 Ask of me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession.
9 Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron; thou shalt dash them in pieces like a potter's vessel.
10 Be wise now therefore, O ye kings: be instructed, ye judges of the earth.
11 Serve the Lord with fear, and rejoice with trembling.
12 Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and ye perish from the way, when his wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in him.
KJV

The Complete Jewish Bible puts it this way:

Ps 2
2:1 Why are the nations in an uproar,
the peoples grumbling in vain?
2 The earth’s kings are taking positions,
leaders conspiring together,
against ADONAI
and his anointed.
3 They cry, “Let’s break their fetters!
Let’s throw off their chains!”
4 He who sits in heaven laughs;
Adonai looks at them in derision.
5 Then in his anger he rebukes them,
terrifies them in his fury.
6 “I myself have installed my king
on Tziyon, my holy mountain.”
7 “I will proclaim the decree:
ADONAI said to me,
‘You are my son;
today I became your father.
8 Ask of me, and I will make
the nations your inheritance;
the whole wide world
will be your possession.
9 You will break them with an iron rod,
shatter them like a clay pot.’”
10 Therefore, kings, be wise;
be warned, you judges of the earth.
11 Serve ADONAI with fear;
rejoice, but with trembling.
12 Kiss the son, lest he be angry,
and you perish along the way,
when suddenly his anger blazes.
How blessed are all who take refuge in him.
CJB

This passage suggests that the nations of the world will hold a "united nations" meeting against ADONAI and His Anointed - His Messiah - to discuss how they might "break their fetters" and "throw off their chains." However, the meeting will have an uninvited "Guest!" I believe this will literallly happen during the Millennium and probably not just once!

Will discuss more soon.

In the Messiah's love,
Retrobyter
