The New Jerusalem, part 12

Shalom, everyone.

Time for a few more verses. Again, although it's been said that "mountain" represents "a kingdom," I think you may be able to see how these verses could apply to the description we've gone through about the New Jerusalem:

Isa. 2:1-3
1 The word that Isaiah the son of Amoz saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem.
2 And it shall come to pass in the last days, that the mountain of the Lord's house shall be established in the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow unto it.
3 And many people shall go and say, Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.
KJV

Isa. 66:20-24
20 And they shall bring all your brethren for an offering unto the Lord out of all nations upon horses, and in chariots, and in litters, and upon mules, and upon swift beasts, to my holy mountain Jerusalem, saith the Lord, as the children of Israel bring an offering in a clean vessel into the house of the Lord.
21 And I will also take of them for priests and for Levites, saith the Lord.
22 For as the new heavens and the new earth, which I will make, shall remain before me, saith the Lord, so shall your seed and your name remain.
23 And it shall come to pass, that from one new moon to another, and from one sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me, saith the Lord.
24 And they shall go forth, and look upon the carcases of the men that have transgressed against me: for their worm shall not die, neither shall their fire be quenched; and they shall be an abhorring unto all flesh.
KJV

Ezek. 20:40
40 For in mine holy mountain, in the mountain of the height of Israel, saith the Lord God, there shall all the house of Israel, all of them in the land, serve me: there will I accept them, and there will I require your offerings, and the firstfruits of your oblations, with all your holy things.
KJV

Mic. 4:1-5
1 But in the last days it shall come to pass, that the mountain of the house of the Lord shall be established in the top of the mountains, and it shall be exalted above the hills; and people shall flow unto it.
2 And many nations shall come, and say, Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, and to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for the law shall go forth of Zion, and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.
3 And he shall judge among many people, and rebuke strong nations afar off; and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up a sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more.
4 But they shall sit every man under his vine and under his fig tree; and none shall make them afraid: for the mouth of the Lord of hosts hath spoken it.
5 For all people will walk every one in the name of his god, and we will walk in the name of the Lord our God for ever and ever.
KJV

I'd say that the "mountain of the Lord's house" is a pretty good description of the New Jerusalem! Mount Everest is only 5.5 miles high; the New Jerusalem will be about 1,500 miles high!

Also, another reason for believing that the New Jerusalem is in the shape of a pyramid rather than in the shape of a cube is the position of the throne: In a cube, the logical position would be in the cube's exact center. That would be 750 miles high (half of the city's height). In a pyramid, the logical position would be at the pyramid's apex, in the pinnacle or in the CAPSTONE of the pyramid (the "head stone of the corner"), 1,500 miles high in the center of the city!

Larry Cockerham has given us some good, general information on the New Jerusalem at www.prophecyforum.com. Feel free to go check out his website for more information.

Doing the math, one will discover that the distance from one corner of the city to the opposite corner will be 2134.4 miles following the curvature of the earth! That's covering an angle of 30.856 degrees of a great circle of the earth! That means that "down" at one corner of the city will be 30.856 degrees different than "down" at the opposite corner of the city! Can you understand what that means?! Assuming that it will be centered at the coordinates of Jerusalem today, if nothing changed between this earth and the New Earth (a bad assumption, I know), people will be able to see this city from almost anywhere on the continent of Africa down to Zambia! They will be able to see the pinnacle of the city from Iceland! from halfway across Mongolia! from almost anywhere in India! from almost anywhere in the western half of Russia! And, they will be able to see its light from farther than that, like a permanent red sunset!

Ponder the wonder!

In the Messiah's love,
Retrobyter
