The Millennium, part 9

Shalom, everyone.

Okay, let's move on to the next parable of Matthew 13:

The Treasure Hidden in a Field

Matt. 13:44
44 Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto treasure hid in a field; the which when a man hath found, he hideth, and for joy thereof goeth and selleth all that he hath, and buyeth that field.
KJV
In some parables, it's not so much the objects that are defined as the elements of the parable, but the ACTIONS - the VERBS - that are important. This is one of them.

The only object identified is that the "Kingdom from the sky" = "treasure." The treasure at first is buried in the field. What about this "man?" He is not defined. It could be ANYONE! So, let's look at the actions that he performs:

First, we must ask, "Why was he digging in this field if it wasn't his field?" I think the answer to that is that the man was an employee of the owner of the field. This is speculation, but it would make sense that he was plowing the field for his employer and discovered the treasure in the process of plowing.

So, he doesn't know if his employer is aware of the treasure or not, but he comes to the conclusion that he could offer to buy the field and if the employer was aware of the treasure, he wouldn't sell. If the employer wasn't aware of the treasure, then he could offer a good price for the land, buy the land and its rights, and own the treasure himself.

So, he hides the treasure - buries it again in the field, and for the joy of having discovered the valuables, he raises the money he needs to buy the field by selling everything he owns. With the money he raises, he buys the field from the previous owner. Once it is his land with all the rights of whatever is on that land, he can dig up the treasure at his leisure and enjoy the wealth.

This parable tells us that the Kingdom from the sky, the Kingdom that the Messiah establishes when He returns, will be at first hidden like the treasure buried in the field. Whenever someone - anyone - makes the discovery of the Kingdom, for joy he or she will re-hide the Kingdom and do whatever necessary to obtain the purchase of that Kingdom, i.e. to do whatever it takes to procure a place within that Kingdom!

Recently, we've remembered the 10th anniversary of 9-11 and the men and women, innocent by-standers and heroes, who lost their lives that day. Have you noticed how soon after 9-11-01 the public went back to their routines and forgot about the people we lost that day? I believe it will be that way when the Messiah returns and sets up His Kingdom. It won't take very many years (months?) before the world goes back to their routines and rituals and forgets that the Messiah is present in Isra'el.

Yeshua` preferred to deal with men and women one-on-one when He was here the first time. I believe that He will deal with men and women the same way when He returns. There will be unbelievers on the earth during the days of His Kingdom, living in other nations around the earth. They will still be facing their personal challenges day by day, and the old saying, "Out of sight, out of mind," will apply in the Millennium.

The verses Yeshua` quoted in Luke 4:16-21 from Yesha`yahu's prophecy recorded in Isa. 61:1-2 will be completely fulfilled in that time:

Isa. 61:1-11
1 The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound;
2 To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD,
and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn;
3 To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified.
4 And they shall build the old wastes, they shall raise up the former desolations, and they shall repair the waste cities, the desolations of many generations.
5 And strangers shall stand and feed your flocks, and the sons of the alien shall be your plowmen and your vinedressers.
6 But ye shall be named the Priests of the LORD: men shall call you the Ministers of our God: ye shall eat the riches of the Gentiles, and in their glory shall ye boast yourselves.
7 For your shame ye shall have double; and for confusion they shall rejoice in their portion: therefore in their land they shall possess the double: everlasting joy shall be unto them.
8 For I the LORD love judgment, I hate robbery for burnt offering; and I will direct their work in truth, and I will make an everlasting covenant with them.
9 And their seed shall be known among the Gentiles, and their offspring among the people: all that see them shall acknowledge them, that they are the seed which the LORD hath blessed.
10 I will greatly rejoice in the LORD, my soul shall be joyful in my God; for he hath clothed me with the garments of salvation, he hath covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decketh himself with ornaments, and as a bride adorneth herself with her jewels.
11 For as the earth bringeth forth her bud, and as the garden causeth the things that are sown in it to spring forth; so the Lord GOD will cause righteousness and praise to spring forth before all the nations.

KJV

The Gentile or non-Jewish nations will know OF the Lord GOD, Adonai YHVH, but few will truly KNOW Him. However, I believe that is the goal during the Millennium; namely, that all will come to "KNOW Him and the power of His resurrection." (Phil. 3:10)

Isa. 11:1-16
1 And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots:
2 And the spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord;
3 And shall make him of quick understanding in the fear of the Lord: and he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of his ears:
4 But with righteousness shall he judge the poor, and reprove with equity for the meek of the earth: and he shall smite the earth with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips shall he slay the wicked.
5 And righteousness shall be the girdle of his loins, and faithfulness the girdle of his reins.
6 The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them.
7 And the cow and the bear shall feed; their young ones shall lie down together: and the lion shall eat straw like the ox.
8 And the sucking child shall play on the hole of the asp, and the weaned child shall put his hand on the cockatrice' den.
9 They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain: for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea.
10 And in that day there shall be a root of Jesse, which shall stand for an ensign of the people; to it shall the Gentiles seek: and his rest shall be glorious.
11 And it shall come to pass in that day, that the Lord shall set his hand again the second time to recover the remnant of his people, which shall be left, from Assyria, and from Egypt, and from Pathros, and from Cush, and from Elam, and from Shinar, and from Hamath, and from the islands of the sea.
12 And he shall set up an ensign for the nations, and shall assemble the outcasts of Israel, and gather together the dispersed of Judah from the four corners of the earth.
13 The envy also of Ephraim shall depart, and the adversaries of Judah shall be cut off: Ephraim shall not envy Judah, and Judah shall not vex Ephraim.
14 But they shall fly upon the shoulders of the Philistines toward the west; they shall spoil them of the east together: they shall lay their hand upon Edom and Moab; and the children of Ammon shall obey them.
15 And the Lord shall utterly destroy the tongue of the Egyptian sea; and with his mighty wind shall he shake his hand over the river, and shall smite it in the seven streams, and make men go over dryshod.
16 And there shall be an highway for the remnant of his people, which shall be left, from Assyria; like as it was to Israel in the day that he came up out of the land of Egypt.
KJV

Have a wonderful day!

In the Messiah's love,
Retrobyter
